Attendees at the Preston Weekender will be asked if they are able to support the essential work of the Preston Samaritans, through donating, or helping to raise awareness of the valuable services that they provide.

Since 1970, Preston Samaritans has been a vital lifeline in the community, providing 24/7 emotional support to those struggling to cope.

Their dedicated team, of around 100 volunteers, donates over 10,000 hours annually – equivalent to six full-time staff – responding to calls and emails from people experiencing emotional distress, whilst also working with local organisations to raise awareness about mental health and suicide prevention.

As a completely volunteer-run charity costing £30,000 annually to operate, they rely on donations to continue their essential work supporting people in Preston, the surrounding areas, and across the UK.

Councillor Hindle, Cabinet Member for Culture and Arts at Preston City Council said: “Preston Samaritans provide an invaluable service to our community, offering a lifeline to those who need support the most.

“Their commitment to mental health and suicide prevention is truly commendable, and we’re proud to support their work at The Preston Weekender. We encourage everyone to get involved, so they can continue making a difference for those in need.”

By supporting Preston Samaritans at The Preston Weekender, you’ll be helping ensure that someone is always there to listen, day or night, 365 days a year.
